2016 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Champion Will Brown has announced he will step up to the Super2 Series in 2017 alongside championship winning squad Eggleston Motorsport.
Brown will also be joined by former AGI Sport colleague Jack Smith, who confirmed he will pilot a Brad Jones Racing Commodore alongside Macauley Jones and Andrew Jones.
“I’m really focused on building a career for myself in the sport here in Australia and the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship is definitely my eventual goal,” says Brown.
“You really need to be in the Dunlop Super2 Series to learn all of the things you need to be successful down the track and you need to do it with a great team with proven equipment – and that’s what we have done by signing with Eggleston Motorsport.”
Brown was introduced to his ex-Triple Eight machine at Winton last week, alongside his new teammate 2016 Australian Endurance Champion Nathan Morcom.
“I know I have a lot to learn and the best way to approach the year is to be a human sponge,” Brown said.
“I’ll be soaking up as much as I can about every facet of Supercars racing and putting every bit of energy into making the most of this great opportunity.”
Smith sampled a BJR Commodore last December, and will combine his Super2 programme alongside a stint in the V8 Touring Car Series with the Albury squad.
“I’m excited to get into the year ahead, running in two categories will be great for my learning and development,” Smith told supercars.com.
“I got a fantastic first impression of the BJR Commodore in December. It was great to get that experience in the car, get a few laps in and get comfortable with the car.”
The first round of the 2017 Super2 Series will take place at the Supercars season opening Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from Thursday March 2.
