AGI Sport’s Sage Murdoch will enter next week’s round of the 2017 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship one number shorter, switching from #44 to #4 for the remainder of the season.
The Newcastle driver showed encouraging pace in the previous round at Phillip Island, with a season best result of fourth in Race Two.
“I felt really comfortable in the car all weekend, I really like the high-speed tracks,” Murdoch said.
“I’m hoping for a podium finish at Queensland to make up for all of the races I did not finish in and to help my point score for the championship.”
A rollover in the final Phillip Island race on Sunday brought Murdoch’s weekend to a premature conclusion. Murdoch hopes the new number will bring about a fresh start and more positive luck coming his way for the next three rounds.
“I have decided to start fresh with my race number, and hopefully it’s a lucky number as well. I have chosen number four so I can have my own number instead of 44, which a lot of people use.
“I also like the idea of the number four for Formula 4 – it makes it sound good and fast.”
Round Five of the 2017 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship will take place at Queensland Raceway, 28–30 July, supporting the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint.
Practice Two, Qualifying and all three races will be televised live on Fox Sports 506 as part of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship coverage.
