AGI’s Suhle thing

Reigning CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship winning squad, AGI Sport, has today announced Ryan Suhle will be part of its 2018 driving roster.

Suhle, the 2017 Burson Auto Parts Rookie of the Year, enjoyed a highly successful debut season with two pole positions and a race win to finish fourth in the overall standings.

“Super excited to be driving with AGI Sport in the 2018 season, their knowledge of the category and racing in general is going to really help me develop as a driver,” Suhle said.

“I’m honestly just hanging to get back in the car, and it’s only been a month since the Gold Coast!”

With AGI’s 2017 Australian Formula 4 Champion Nick Rowe graduating from the championship next season, Team Principal Adam Gotch was pleased to secure a high calibre driver such as Suhle.

“We’re thrilled Ryan has chosen AGI Sport as his next destination, especially as he was the top rookie of last season,” Gotch said.

“It was always going to be hard to replace Nick, but we’re confident Ryan will be one of the many drivers in our line-up next season who will be right in the fight for title honours again.”

Suhle won the Burson Rookie of the Year title convincingly over his nearest rival Zane Morse, with seven race podium finishes and five Rookie of the Round medals.

As for what 2018 holds for the Queenslander, Suhle’s ambitions are clear.

“2018 is definitely going to be a big year, the target is the championship. We’ve seen first-hand the team at AGI Sport has all the right ingredients, so it’s all up to me to make it happen,” Suhle said.

Meanwhile AGI Sport’s outgoing champion Rowe will get behind the wheel of a Brad Jones Racing Commodore Supercar next month at a test day, a reward for claiming this year’s title honours.

A final calendar for the 2018 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship will be confirmed in the coming weeks with further driver announcements to follow.

The championship also recently confirmed participants will have the option to purchase cars outright, or maintaining a sustainable lease model if they prefer.
