After claiming the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship’s first two crowns, South Australian squad Team BRM is eagerly anticipating their fourth season in 2018.
Speaking at Formula 4’s end of year gala dinner, Team Principal Mark Rundle was complimentary of rival AGI Sport’s breakthrough championship winning season.
“It was a fantastic year, it was so close,” Rundle said.
“It’s disappointing not to win, but at the end of the day Nick drove fantastically well. Adam and AGI did a fantastic job, so it’s hats off to them.
“I’m still very proud of our guys, I think we won 11 races out of the 21 this year so it’s not a bad year. I’m still proud.”
The dual-championship winning squad at one point this season ran a record six cars for the likes of Aaron Love, Cameron Shields, Josh Denton, Liam Lawson, Simon Fallon, and Zane Morse.
With the team encountering success and hardship at different stages of the season, Rundle praised the team’s ability to stick together through hardship.
“I think probably Sandown, right at the start of the year was quite tough, particularly for Cameron Shields – he probably couldn’t have had a worse start to a championship than he did,” Rundle said.
“There’s been a couple of times throughout the year that have been tough, but you’ve got to band together as a team and a group and fight through. I think we’ve done that and come back.
“Each of our guys has had really strong periods. That makes them stronger as drivers in the future.”
