Reigning KA3 Junior Victorian Kart Champion Josh Smith is the fourth driver to be confirmed in Team BRM’s Australian Formula 4 stable for 2018.
Also recently named as part of the four-driver CAMS Foundation Rising Star line-up, Smith is enthusiastic to join the dual-championship winning squad for his debutant national circuit season.
“It is a privilege to be part of such a professional, well run team,” Smith said.
“My induction into the team has already expanded my knowledge and passion for motor sport. I am very excited to see what we can do with Team BRM.”
With strong results in karting including 2016 Race of Stars Champion, three Victorian kart titles, and a runner-up placing in the 2014 Australian Championship, Smith has eyed Australian Formula 4 as the next step in his professional progression.
“I feel this championship is a big step towards my ultimate goal of a racing career. I am excited to learn key skills to use on and off the track in the future,” Smith said.
“Team BRM and I have been working extremely hard at track days in preparation for my debut. Personally I have a very strict fitness program so that I can be as physically prepared as possible for each race.”
Despite being a rookie in the Australian Formula 4 field, Smith will leave no stone unturned as he seeks to learn and impress in the seven-round championship.
“I have always set my goals high and do everything in my power to reach them. This year will be no different,” Smith said.
“I am very committed to get everything out of myself and my team to hopefully put together a successful year. My main focus will be to soak in everything I can to further develop my skills.”
The 2016 and 2017 Championship winning squad has already confirmed Aaron Love, Lochie Hughes, and Josh’s namesake Thomas Smith as part of their 2018 lineup.
A fifth Team BRM driver will be announced tomorrow.
