It’s a brand new experience for both team Patrizicorse and their new driver Jackson Walls, as the duo currently prepare for their debutant year in the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship.
Walls’ arrival was confirmed by Patrizicorse just prior to Christmas and the pair are making the most of their allocated test days before April’s opening round in Tasmania.
This week, Patrizicorse joined fellow squads, AGI Sport and Team BRM, at a test session held at Winton to clock up crucial kilometres. The Victorian circuit will host a double-round in 2018 for the first time in early September.
After racing karts for several years, Walls has thoroughly enjoyed his new surroundings in the Objective supported Patrizicorse Formula 4.
“Oh yeah it’s good fun. Definitely different from karts obviously – the braking, the mirrors, it’s all around just a bigger car,” Walls said.
“Not much else I can say except it’s bloody amazing and fun.”
With both team and driver highly experienced in karting, both are also enjoying the learning curve of adapting to Australian Formula 4.
“It’s like growing up as a kid. You’ve got to learn and just experience it,” Walls said.
“I’ve known Michael [Patrizi] for a fair time now, because of Dad racing and I did a year with him at Patrizicorse and the Ricciardo Kart team. We’re pretty close and he’s a close friend, so that’s good.”
Testing aside, Walls is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for the season ahead.
“Going through old F4 races on the TV, also fitness like mountain biking. I’m also on the simulator at home trying to cut some hours through it,” Walls said.
