Shields Sets Symmons Plains Benchmark

Team BRM’s Cameron Shields has topped the timesheets in the opening practice session for the 2018 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship at Symmons Plains.

The Toowoomba driver recorded 21 laps, the most of any driver in the field, and narrowly edged ahead of AGI Sport’s Jayden Ojeda by 0.08 seconds.

Ojeda’s teammate Ryan Suhle was third quickest, and led the likes of Aaron Love, Thomas Smith, Zayd Tones and Lochie Hughes who were no further than 0.75 seconds off the quickest time.

Josh Smith, Antonio Astuti and Jackson Walls rounded out the final top ten placings.

Practice Two will commence from 1:00pm AEST, with qualifying and the opening race to be held on Saturday.
