Suhle’s Sunday Morning Success

AGI Sport has broken Team BRM’s stranglehold at Symmons Plains to claim victory in Race Two with Ryan Suhle.

Suhle, who started on the second row in the reverse grid race, had an early battle with teammate Jayden Ojeda after snatching the lead from pole position’s Lochie Hughes.

Unfortunately for Ojeda, electrical issues put a premature end to the AGI Sport driver’s race on lap three.

“I just got the jump on Lochie, ended up on the inside for turn one and then round the outside for two and made that stick,” Suhle said.

“I then made the move on Jayden, and I knew I had to do that early because he did have some pace yesterday and I think that he found some overnight too.

“It was going to be a good battle between Jayden and I if he hadn’t had the car issue, but we just got out in front and held the lead there a little bit conservatively. So I’m excited to see what we can do in race three.”

Yesterday’s Castrol Pole Position and opening race winner Cameron Shields was content to at least break the race lap record on his way to second place.

“Unfortunately at start, there was a yellow flag for about half of the track so it was quite difficult to pass at the beginning of the race,” Shields said.

“As it went on I managed to make my way up to second, and from there I pushed through and managed to reset the lap record again.”

In a repeat of yesterday, Aaron Love backed up his Saturday podium performance with yet another third place finish ahead of his rookie teammate Hughes.

“I didn’t quite get the start that I really wanted but I worked back into P3 and went from there,” Love said.

“I was in second for a little bit but saw Cam coming and he had a fair bit more pace than me, so had to virtually give up the spot to him but it was a good race.”

Hughes again led home the rookies in fourth, with BRM teammate Zayd Tones improving on his Saturday result to finish fifth ahead of the Patrizicorse of Jackson Walls.

The Smith duo made contact on lap ten, with Josh’s front wing catching the rear tyre of Thomas. Aside from some wing damage for Josh, both cars carried on for seventh and eight places respectively.

The third and final race of the weekend will take place from 3:55pm AEST.
