Porsche Newcomers Impress on Debut

2016 Burson Auto Parts Rookie of the Year Simon Fallon was the best placed CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship graduate in this year’s opening round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge at The Bend.

GT3 Cup Challenge this year welcomes Fallon, Luis Leeds and Jimmy Vernon to the series. Fallon started the weekend on song, qualifying in pole position on Saturday.

Fallon concluded his weekend to finish third in the Professional class, ahead of Leeds and Vernon respectively.

Meanwhile in the National Sports Sedan Series, Thomas Randle was ninth out of 30 entrants. Electrical dramas halted Randle’s proceedings but he recovered on Sunday to finish second in the third and final race.

Sage Murdoch also gathered a good haul of points in his Australian Prototype Series debut to finish 13th out 29 entrants. Eighth in the third and final race of the weekend was the Novocastrian’s best result.
