We’ve Behn testing

After a test with championship winning squad AGI Sport yesterday, Josh Behn is feverishly trying to make a start at next weekend’s Australian Formula 4 round at Phillip Island.

Already well credentialed in circuit racing after recently stepping up from karts, Behn was in awe of the combination of a Formula 4 at Phillip Island.

“The car was unreal to drive,” Behn said.

“In the wet the car had grip where you needed it, which is something I’m not usually used to – so it was a very welcomed change.

“I still can’t get the grin off my face after entering turn one at Phillip Island at 220km/h and pinning it the whole way around. To say it simply, the car was awesome.”

Behn impressed in the test with AGI Sport, and though he admits some pre-session nerves, he was full of confidence come the end of the day.

“This was the first time I’ve actually driven on the Phillip Island circuit, so experiencing it in the wet was definitely a daunting experience,” Behn said.

“But after a couple laps the nerves settled right down and I was able to find the grip on the track by trial and error, and following a couple of the quick drivers.

“It was less slippery than I thought it would be, with help from the Hankook wets, but definitely risky if you decided to drive on the dry line.

Overall, a big learning curve but I’m glad I got to experience it.”

With Formula 4 experience in the wet and dry at Phillip Island already under his belt now, the next step for Behn is to race for keeps.

“I’m hoping I can find a little bit of extra sponsorship to get my bum in the seat for race day,” Behn said.

“We looked promising on the track and I don’t want to miss out on an opportunity like this. A big thank you to Adam Gotch and the team at AGI for setting up a weapon of a car for the day.”

Round Two of the CAMS Australian Formula 4 Championship commences on Friday 1 June at Phillip Island, as part of the Shannons Nationals weekend.
