Jack Doohan tops British F4 rookie class

Australian Jack Doohan has won the 2018 British F4 Rookie Cup title in the season ending round at Brands Hatch.

Doohan clinched the crown by 15 points against his Arden teammate and title rival Dennis Hauger. Heading into the Brands Hatch finale, Doohan held a slender lead but benefitted after his rival made contact in the final round.

“We made progress across the weekend after a tough start to improve the car but it’s good to end up as rookie champion,” Doohan said.

“It’s been a tough season with Dennis and Paavo [Tonteri] at the front of the rookies as we have all been scoring good points and it was hard to make up from any DNFs. It’s great that I’ve ended up on top.”

In the outright classification, the Australian placed fifth outright ahead of the likes of Patrik Pasma, Sebastian Priaulx and Paavo Tonteri. Double R’s Kiern Jewiss was crowned outright champion.
