Team BRM’s Jordan Lloyd has continued his strong form at Sandown, taking out the final race and the round win for Round 4 of the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship.
The Toowoomba driver led every lap of the weekend, but received a bit of pressure in the closing stages of Race 3 by 15-year-old Luis Leeds.
“I managed to get the clean sweep this weekend, which was pretty good,” Lloyd said.
“I had the fastest lap in all three races, which is always valuable points and a bit of a confidence boost heading into the next round.
“The last race was a bit harder than the first one, I had Luis right on my tail for a lot of it, and the safety car tightened the field back up, which made things interesting, but very happy with the win this weekend.”
DREAM Motorsport’s Thomas Randle had an up-and-down weekend, but still managed to pull off second place for the weekend.
Jimmy Vernon claimed his first podium result, with the Toolforce Racing driver finishing third in the final race and for the round.
The Burson Rookie of the Round winner was Jordan Love, who performed strong all weekend for his debut at the Sandown circuit.
After putting the car on the front row in Qualifying, Leeds managed to complete the top five for the round.
IQ Option Racing’s Tom Grech finished sixth in front of a home crowd, with Team BRM’s Harry Hayek coming home in seventh followed by Will Brown, Frankie Maiolo and female debutant Caitlin Wood rounding out the top ten.
Lloyd continues to lead the championship, with Randle following the leader in second by 91 points.
Round 5 of the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship will be held on the streets on the Gold Coast, on October 23-24.
