Inaugural CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Champion Jordan Lloyd has confirmed his 2016 racing programme, with a return to the USF2000 Series in the United States.
Lloyd joins Pabst Racing, having had previous experience with John Cummiskey Racing in 2015 prior to joining the Australian Formula 4 grid with Team BRM.
“It’s always been of a high thing on my list and has been for a while,” Lloyd said.
“Will Power being obviously from my hometown as well gives you a bit of a target to shoot for.”
The outgoing champion recently spent time with his Team BRM colleagues at the most recent official Formula 4 test day at Sydney Motorsport Park, this time playing a support role as a mentor to some of the squad’s younger racers.
“It gives you a good feeling of personal satisfaction as well being able to watch these guys and obviously learn from myself, and apply it onto the circuit and seeing themselves go quicker as well,” Lloyd said.
“It makes me feel good, makes them feel good and I think it’s a bit of a leg up from them as well.”
Between Lloyd’s final race at Homebush last December and the USF2000 announcement, Lloyd had some time to reflect on what was a significant moment in the Toowoomba driver’s career.
“It’s always good to reflect on a season that you’ve just been in, whether you’ve won the championship or not,” Lloyd said.
“Looking back at it, it was one pretty busy season for us and obviously trying to keep the goal on being one of the quickest most of the time.
“It’s definitely…winning this championship last year has given me that next leg up to be able to do what I’m going to do in America this year.”
