Two Australian drivers have topped the timesheets during the first day of testing of the MSA Formula at Brands Hatch.
Red Bull Junior Team driver Luis Leeds was the fastest driver overall aboard his Arden prepared car, and the only driver to set a 45 second lap time.
Double R’s Zane Goddard had ended the morning session as the fastest driver, before settling for second place in the afternoon session.
Testing in identical machinery to their previous CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship cars of 2015, the two Australians were able to take full advantage of their year’s experience at home.
Fellow Australian Harry Hayek, who only just recently confirmed his MSA Formula programme last week, was 12th overall with Jamun Racing.
The competitive field was separated by less than a second, with the battle for top spot shared amongst other drivers during multiple occasions in the session.
The next collective MSA Formula test will take place on 16 March at Donington Park, before the first race on April 2–3 at Brands Hatch.
