The lap times at Symmons Plains continued to tumble during Saturday Practice for the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship.
Team BRM’s Will Brown claimed a sweep of U Race It Fastest Laps across all three practice sessions, with the U Race It Pole Position to this afternoon at 1:25pm.
The session was red flagged after AGI Sport’s Nick Rowe encountered a technical glitch at Turn 4 and was beached in the gravel trap but later retrieved to complete the session in sixth.
“When I went to go brake down there, it just kept itself flat so that was a bit hairy,” Rowe said.
“It went a fair way into the sand trap there, but we’ll be right we’ll try to fix that for the qualifying session…and hopefully all is well and we can get up the front.”
Brenton Grove again kept close to Brown’s time, despite a moment towards the final minutes of the session seeing the young Victorian encounter his first spin of the weekend at Turn 1.
“It was alright, I didn’t get the rhythm that I wanted and the flow and I hit a kerb and it knocked the brake pads away so when I went into Turn One there was no brakes. It’s alright, I’ll go back, have a look at some data, at some video and then go back and we’ll work it out for qualifying. It’s all good!”
Jordan Love made some improvements to the car after Friday’s running and claimed an impressive second place in practice, to be one of three drivers to enter the 56 second bracket.
“It’s definitely encouraging coming into qualifying,” Love said.
“We made a couple of changes overnight worked with my data engineer…just to figure out where I can do better and where we can just get little bits out of the car.”
“It’s going to be really close in qualifying and really hope we can come out on top.”
The U Race It Pole Position gets underway from 1:25pm AEDST.
