Kart Star Cody Donald Joins JRD

Cody Donald, KA3 frontrunner in the Australian Kart Championship, will pilot a second Junior Racing Development prepared Formula 4 next weekend at Sandown.

The 16-year-old Victorian will use the penultimate round of the 2016 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship as critical race experience as he prepares for a 2017 campaign in the category.

“I am really looking forward to the Sandown event. I am trying to put together a full F4 program for 2017 and will use this round to gain valuable experience,” Cody said.

“I have never been on the Sandown circuit so there are no set goals other than to finish all the sessions and races, every lap is just so important.”

In between preparing for his KA3 championship aspirations in the Australian Kart Championship, Cody has frequently visited the JRD factory to prepare for his first CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 race weekend.

“The JRD guys have been great. I feel really comfortable with the team and have spent a fair bit of time with them at the factory over the past few weeks,” Cody said.

“Knowing Tyler [Everingham] also makes it a little easier for me, so I am really looking forward to working with the whole team.”

Whilst Sandown will be Cody’s first ever circuit race at Sandown, he will be amongst some familiar former karting colleagues such as Will Brown, Simon Fallon and his JRD teammate Tyler Everingham.

“It is all still a bit unreal and I am just so lucky, I really want to thank my parents and Hag for this amazing opportunity and hope that we can attract some corporate partners to join me for 2017,” Cody said.
