Humble Runner Up Nick Rowe

2016 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship runner up Nick Rowe has praised his former teammate Will Brown, as the two fought for the Championship until the final round.

The AGI Sport driver raced hard against his former teammates Brown and Jordan Love, with 14 podium appearances, one round win and two U Race It Pole Positions.

“Second in the championship. That’s good, we’ll take that. That’s runner up, there’s nothing wrong with that. Will’s a good driver and so is Jordan [Love],” Rowe said.

“Realistically, at the end there I didn’t think I’d be able to get Will but I didn’t give up. The champ won at the end of the day.”

The Karratha pilot was a popular figure amongst the Formula 4 paddock, particularly between his fellow championship contenders in Brown, Love and British F4 returnee Harry Hayek.

Although at times, their friendship was tested. Particularly when Rowe collided with Brown and Love in the first race of the year at Symmons Plains.

“After Race One at Symmons Plains, I thought we’d never talk to each other again! I got ejected from the group chat, I thought ‘this is it…’!,” Rowe said.

Despite the blip in the friendship, Rowe rated his 2016 Australian Formula 4 season as his favourite.

“I had probably one of the best years I’ve ever had racing,” Rowe said.

“The camaraderie between us, you wouldn’t get it anywhere else. We’ve had a great year, I can’t thank all these boys enough.”
